Guided Tours of The Hague
The Palace Garden, formerly known as the Princess Garden
The garden dates from 1649 and extends to the Royal Stables, whose entrance is on the Hogewal close to the center of The Hague (also known as Den Haag). The garden is open to the public from sunrise to sunset. The garden is closed only when important guests are at the Palace. We like to try and guide you here when on tour if it is open but it is around the back of the Palace and not obvious to find if you are not a local.
On July 12, 1785, the first manned hot air balloon, carrying the balloonist Jean-Pierre Blanchard, took off from this delightful little park.
